400mm sterile latex long cuff gloves such as SMARTLine™ Sterile Latex 400 DI are used in the pharmaceutical industry to meet the GMP Annex 1 requirements. Their high elasticity supports precise task and aseptic handling, while the extended cuff deliver a better chemical resistance to address frequent disinfection while maintaining contamination control (0 CFU on the forearm).
Actions such as improper cleanroom glove donning, contact with non‑sterile surfaces, poor disinfection processes, or incorrect transfer between controlled areas can compromise glove sterility. Touching contaminated equipment, packaging or garments outside controlled zones may introduce contaminants and affect aseptic handling.
Airlocks or transfer hatches maintain sterile glove transfer in a controlled manner between different cleanroom environment grade. They allow a sterile transfer pathway, ensuring that gloves remain clean and sterile before use in aseptic operations.
Sterile 400 mm latex gloves have a lower carbon footprint than sterile 400 mm nitrile gloves, as demonstrated by our life cycle assessment (Ecovamed). This is because natural latex is sourced from rubber trees, whereas nitrile is derived from petrochemical processes. Thus latex benefits from the reintegration of biogenic carbon captured by the plant.
