On 12 August 2026, the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) became applicable across the European Union. Regulation (EU) 2025/40 introduces new requirements for packaging placed on the EU market and progressively replaces Directive 94/62/EC with a harmonised regulatory framework.

The Regulation applies to all packaging materials, including cardboard, paper and plastics, and requires manufacturers, importers and distributors to demonstrate compliance through measures such as technical documentation, conformity assessment procedures, traceability requirements and an EU Declaration of Conformity (DoC).

As a manufacturer of laboratory and cleanroom gloves supplied in cartons, dispenser boxes, bags and pouches, SHIELD Scientific is directly concerned by these requirements.

To support compliance with the PPWR requirements applicable today, SHIELD Scientific has established an EU Declaration of Conformity for Packaging and Packaging Components covering the packaging used with its products.

This Declaration of Conformity covers the first PPWR requirements now in force (substance restrictions, conformity assessment, technical documentation, declaration of conformity and traceability requirements).

Further obligations will be introduced progressively until 2030. SHIELD Scientific will continue to keep customers informed as new requirements become applicable.
