Gloves selection
With the SHIELD Scientific product brand code, select the right gloves is now an easy exercise.
White nitrile 400 mm cleanroom gloves such as SHIELDskin™ XTREME White Nitrile 400 DI+ are used for cytotoxic drug handling due to their resistance to hazardous substances and reduced permeation risk. Their performance is evaluated under EN ISO 374, EN 16523‑1 and ASTM D6978-05, helping limit exposure during preparation and handling.
Extended‑cuff cleanroom gloves are used in Central Sterile Services Departments (CSSD) during handling, cleaning and sterilisation preparation. Their 400 mm length helps protect the forearm when working with instruments, trays or disinfectants, supporting consistent contamination control.
Nitrile cleanroom gloves are made from synthetic rubber (acrylonitrile‑butadiene), providing chemical resistance, durability and a latex‑free alternative. This material offers stable performance during repeated handling, including contact with chemical or biological substances.
Deionised water is used to wash nitrile gloves such as SHIELDskin™ XTREME White Nitrile 400 DI+ to achieve the required cleanliness specifications for cleanroom use. These washing processes reduce particles and extractables, helping maintain stable conditions in GMP Grade C/D environments.
Gloves used for cytotoxic handling are tested for permeation by exposing the material to chemotherapy drugs under continuous contact conditions. Standards such as ASTM D6978‑05 measure breakthrough time and permeation rate to assess how well the glove limits chemical passage.
